Does this include 2012 PRIUS V ? Just wanted to be sure since it lists the PHV but not the Prius V when it’s identical mechanically to a standard Prius gen 3

November 2018 I lost brake pressure on my 2012 Prius 4. As I was out of warranty I took the car to a specialty Toyota/Lexus mechanic and the booster pump was diagnosed and they replaced the booster pump. About $2400. The dealer wanted over $3000. As this post states letters started going out August 2018 I would have thought the dealer should have mentioned the booster pump may be under this warranty but did not. I received my letter last month describing the recall and followed the instructions to apply for reimbursement and just got a denial letter today. They claimed the part replaced the shop called acuator and booster pump assembly and was not the covered part. So I did a little research and found in this article code C1391 was one of the covered codes to verify the issue. My diagnostic invoice sent along specifically stated this code yet the claimed was denied. So now I'll get back with them and show them this post and appeal their descision. We'll see what happens.

NO, it does not. My 2012 Prius v brakes failed as described in Customer Support Program ZJB, but the Booster part numbers are different for Prius v. I did get some 'relief' from Toyota but still had to spend big bucks.

My wife’s 2012 Prius v brakes just failed this week with all the same dash lights coming on and it came back as brake booster/ w master switch and brake booster master assembly at the estimated cost of $3300. WTF guess it’s not covered as well. Cars only worth $5000. And it’s in very good condition.

Call Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331. There has been a current bulletin covering the 2011 brake booster and pump, through November 30, 2019, regardless of mileage. I dealt with them last week. My Toyota dealer locally was useless, telling me it wasn't covered and it would be $3,300. I had to do the digging and notify them. Now I wait for parts!

Add a 2012 Prius V (122K miles) with all the symptoms of brake booster/pump problems. Toyota will not cover repair as the V is not under the recall, but has the exact same problems. Both Dealer and Toyota Customer Support say tough luck when they plug in the Vin #.

No, there is nothing else to do. Toyota will not reimburse the Dealer for this repair and asking Toyota will be fruitless. They have adopted a zero chance policy if they approve your vehicle ,which is out of the primary and secondary coverages, then they would have to approve everyone's. HTH

My 2011 Prius had the C1391 failure..... The dash lights came on on 9/2/21... 2 days after the coverage window expired on the customer service bulletin ZJB. I've dealt with Toyota corporate for over a week, 10+ phone calls, all for them to tell me, "sorry, we manufactured a defective part, we refused to do a recall due to the cost, your problem now buddy"... in so many words. :) Now i need to pay $3000 for a defective part that Toyota knows about, for a car that worth about 8k... Always considered my self a ride or die Toyota person, i had a ton of brand loyalty... Ill be looking at other SUV's instead of the 4 Runner i was looking into buying. Also, i had a complete top end smog system failure on my Sequoia at 101,000 miles.. not covered by Toyota.. Im re-thinking this brad loyalty thing...

Ha, ha. Toyota is a joke. Your website says that the codes “may” be present when there is this problem. I have this problem, my car sounds just like this video and my brakes make honking sounds every time I use the brakes. However, because the codes that “may” appear don’t appear, Toyota will not repair the defective parts. No codes appear but I still have this problem as diagnosed by a Toyota technician.

So, now Toyota would rather risk liability in some accident and loss of a repeat customer in future sales because a code doesn’t appear for their defective part.

The Toyota “help desk” didn’t deny the diagnosis of the defective part, but a causation issue. Causation issue was that the code didn’t appear. They said they were bound by a letter that they said the sent to me in June 2019, that had more restrictive language than “may” as found on this webpage; however, they wouldn’t tell me the address where that letter was sent. They asked me to confirm where they sent the letter? I don’t know where you sent it. show. You tell me!

You’d think they’d learn after the airbag issue. Now I am looking at a $2,100 repair on a 6k car just to keep it road worthy. Toyota is pennywise and pound foolish. Congratulations, I bought my last new car with you December 2020. Off to the NHTSA website with my complaint.

I am having the exact same issue of Toyota refusing the repair as no codes or indicator lights are present, despite the technician confirming failure of the brake booster and pump. I have less that 150k miles and am covered until Oct 2022. But no lights or codes, so they deny coverage. This is so frustrating. I see there is a class action lawsuit still in the work here in Texas. Time to get rid of my Prius. Will probably never buy a Toyota again.

And of course my 2011 Prius just fell in to this problem. Why a 10 year limitation? I get the mileage part. I thought I read somewhere about a lawsuit on this in Texas. (And now I can't find the link.) Gonna cost me.
