If you run across a Prius that the door ajar light stays on till you press the brake pedal, then check and see if either interior work was just performed or was at a Body Shop. You will want to check connector R28 located on the drivers side C pillar by the back seat. The connector is a large female type that allows two male connectors into it. They can be switched and if they are, can cause this problem.

Brother,

Just to have someone that addresses the specific issue I have been having is a godsend. I got my prius thru the purple heart foundation. It had sustained left side body damage. The door ajar light and key not detected lights would come on while driving. The battery eventually died. When I jumped it the light was gone. Eventually I would hit a bump and it would come back on. The beeping however would always stop when I would press down on the brake. Question is now, what should I do?

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I am a 66 year old grandma, and I was able to fix my car myself! The hardest part was getting to the connector. I was in a time crunch, going on a road trip the next day when this problem arose. I thought I was going to have to rent a car--but no. It's fixed. I drove 800 miles and the problem is fixed.
