Introduction:
Some 2016 – 2018 model year Prius and Tacoma, 2017 – 2018 model year Prius Prime and Sienna, and 2018 model year Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a MIL ON condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P261093 (ECM/PCM Engine Off Timer Performance No Operation) present. The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Federal Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

* For 2004 – 2017 model year Prius and Prius Prime vehicles that are registered and normally operated in California, Arizona (2012 model year only), Connecticut (starting with 2005 model year), Maine (starting with 2004 model year), Maryland (starting with 2011 model year), Massachusetts (starting with 2004 model year), New Hampshire (2005 model year – 2009 model year only), New Jersey (starting with 2005 model year), New Mexico (2010 model year – 2011 model year only), New York (beginning with 2004 model year with ZE models only; all models starting with 2016 model year), Oregon (starting with 2008 model year), Rhode Island (starting with 2005 model year), and Vermont (starting with 2004 model year) – Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) Emission Warranty Coverage is in effect for 15 years or 150,000 miles, from the vehicle’s in-service date, whichever occurs first. (Please reference Warranty Policy Bulletin POL14-09 for additional information).

* Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure:
1. Confirm the condition exists. Does the vehicle exhibit a MIL ON condition with DTC P261093 present?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.

2. Is the vehicle a Camry or a Sienna model?
YES — Continue to step 3.
NO — For Prius, Tacoma, Prius Prime, and Camry Hybrid model vehicles go to step 4.

3. Follow the procedures outlined in the following bulletins:
* For 2017 – 2018 Sienna model year vehicles follow the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin No. T-SB-0001-18 Transaxle Assembly and ECM (PCM) Software Confirmation.
* For 2018 Camry model year vehicles follow the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin No. T-SB-0010-18 Transaxle Assembly and ECM (PCM) Software Confirmation

4. Check for the Authorized Modifications Label affixed to the vehicle in the locations shown in Figures 1 – 3. Confirm if the ECM (PCM) calibration has been updated. Is the calibration ID listed the latest ECM (PCM) calibration?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to step 5.

5. Flash reprogram the ECM (PCM).

6. Prepare and install the Authorized Modifications Label.
A. Using a permanent marker, enter the following information on the label:
* ECM part number [Refer to the Parts Information section for the NEW PART NUMBER].
* Calibration ID(s) [Refer to the Calibration Information section for the NEW CALIBRATION ID].
* Dealer Code.
* Repair Date.
* Change Authority [This bulletin number].

B. Affix the Authorized Modifications Label to the vehicle at the location shown in Figures 1 and 2. The Authorized Modifications Label is available through the MDC, P/N 00451-00001-LBL.

7. Test drive the vehicle to confirm proper vehicle operation.
