Introduction:
Some 2016 – 2020 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS engine may exhibit a chirp noise from the main accessory drive belt. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

Warranty Information:
R & R V-ribbed Belt with new part number 90916-A2037

APPLICABLE WARRANTY:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.  Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure:
1. Confirm the condition exists. Does the vehicle exhibit a chirp noise from the main accessory drive belt?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.

2. Remove the main accessory drive belt

3. Start the engine and confirm the condition is NOT present with the main accessory drive belt removed.
Does the vehicle exhibit a chirp noise with the main accessory drive belt removed?
NO — Continue to step 4.
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual

NOTICE:
Only run the engine for MAXIMUM of 10 seconds with the drive belt removed.

Does the vehicle exhibit a chirp noise with the main accessory drive belt removed?
NO — Continue to step 4.
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.

4. Install the NEW main accessory drive belt.
BEFORE installing NEW main accessory drive belt:  Ensure pulleys are clean of debris and dry. Confirm component pulley alignment.
NOTICE: Do NOT apply oil or grease to the belt tensioner; doing so can cause abnormal noises or malfunctions.

5. Test-drive the vehicle to confirm the condition no longer exists
