2019-2020 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid
CONDITION:
Some 2019 and 2020 model year Avalon and Avalon HV may exhibit abnormal, partial or 100% inoperative function of either the passenger side, driver side, or both LED1 Headlamp Day Time Running Lights (DRL). This may be caused by an internal fault in the headlamp assembly or DRL logic issue.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. In the event the Headlamp LED-DRL is exhibiting abnormal, partial or 100% no function of either passenger side, driver side or both LED-DRLs use the flowchart on the next page titled “19-20MY Avalon Headlamp DRL Function Issue Identification Flow” to judge between headlamp assembly internal fault or LED-DRL logic issues.
2. In the case where headlamp assembly internal fault is identified per DRL Function Issue Identification Flow Chart in the next page, or if is not an internal fault, then:
Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
3. In the case where logic issue is identified:
Submit a Dealer Product Report on TIS including pictures and details of the condition.
Inform the customer that this issue is currently under investigation and that the issue only affects the headlamp DRL function when the vehicle is in reverse and the headlamps are turned on. Recommend turning on their headlamps when their shifter is in the Park or Drive positions.
