APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
2019 Toyota RAV4

CONDITION:
This Tech Tip applies to 2019 model year RAV4 Adventure/Limited grade equipped with torque vectoring AWD system ONLY. Some customers may experience an abnormal noise from rear differential after driving the vehicle for 15-20 minutes or more. This condition occurs with “Normal” drive mode selected.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Confirm if the vehicle was produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown in the Tech Tip above...
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — Follow the repair procedure in T-SB-0067-20: '19-'20 RAV4: Abnormal Noise from Rear Differential During Connect/Disconnect Operation.

2. Review the vehicles 4WD Data List and confirm 4WD Connect/Disconnect Timing.
A. Is there a miss match between the Front and Rear Axle Coupling Clutch Position Sensor for a duration more than 2 seconds at any speed?
YES — Please create a TAS case and contact TAS for instruction prior to diagnosing or repairing of the vehicle. If it is a weekend or holiday, continue with diagnosis and repair. Please save all parts and/or details and contact TAS on the next available workday
NO — Follow the repair procedure in T-SB-0067-20: '19-'20 RAV4: Abnormal Noise from Rear Differential During Connect/Disconnect Operation.
