This is happening with my 22 hybrid highlander!! However mine doesn’t stay on the glitch like that, mine will randomly completely shut down and then turn back on. Sometimes it won’t turn on and I need to hold down the power button to sort of soft reset it. I have taken it in 4 times now. Once for an update, then for replacement part (I forget what the part was called) and then for an update on that. The last time was supposed to be the last time, and they did a hard reset of the entire system, deleting my phone and everything, but less than 20 minutes on the road, with no Bluetooth device connected mind you, it glitched AGAIN. They have no answers for me, and it’s happening more often. It’s actually very unsafe bc I can’t rely on the navigation or Bluetooth for phone calls and I drive a lot, being a single working mother of three! Did you find any resolution and if so, what was it? I am ready to sell this car, after only a year of owning it bc it’s been happening since about 8 weeks after I purchased it, with only 5 miles! I’m so frustrated with Toyota - maybe it’s only the service department I have been going to, but I am hoping to find some answers here soon! Thank you!

Mine (2022 hybrid) started doing exactly what you describe a couple days ago. I have an appointment scheduled for this week, but after reading your post, I'm not confident that they will resolve the issue.

I wanted to provide an update. After replacing the touch screen, and the "radio", the issue has not been resolved. The dealership said they will have to contact another department within Toyota to try and find a fix. Very frustrating.

I’ve been having this issue on my ‘22 Highlander beginning in the spring of 2022 and have been to the Toyota dealership at least 6 times for this issue. Originally my car when put into reverse would flash to black, to the rear camera view behind the car, back to black, rear view camera view…etc. then when put into drive , my screen would freeze as well as the physical buttons below the screen and I could not do anything with the screen or physical buttons. The module was replaced twice and it did not fix the issue. Sporadically, when flashing to rear camera in reverse, it would switch to the front camera and between both cameras and black screen. Only way to reset it was to park and turn the car off.
Took car in again and they ended up replacing the radio… got a whole set of new issues… I’ll be driving down the road, in every circumstance ( Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, no Bluetooth or any phone connection to the car), the music will stop, the screen will either freeze and do nothing, or it will black out and reboot… does this multiple times a day now since replaced the radio. I love my car, but this is absolutely unacceptable. Oh and concerned about invoking Lemon Law because I did not let them know before 18000 miles. ( I informed Toyota around 22,000 miles), and apparently the mileage notification may be an issue. Need to do more research.

This has been absolutely frustrating, especially in the beginning because the Toyota service could never duplicate it……. I started recording video on my phone and have a logbook in my car and document every single time it has issues…. And send emails to my Toyota Service center.

this is crazy that it hasn’t been figured out yet…. Too much tech in cars nowadays I guess. Any 23’s having these issues???

Have you had any updates or have they been able to fix it or make it better?

I have also had this same issue with my 2022 Highlander with the 12.3" screen. I have had it back to the dealership 4 times now with no resolution yet. I find it strange that the service receipt says a "refurbished radio" was used on an item under warranty.

I am having the same issue with my 2022 Highlander Hybrid Plat Ed (blinking screen). Initially, prior to Toyota replacing the head unit and modules (or whatever they are all called) the entire dash would blink (instrument cluster included). In addition to blinking on and off, the display would lock up (physical buttons too) for at least 20 min or more. Now it is just the touch display blinking and freezing up. I have an appointment with Toyota next week to speak with the manager as I was told by the service department that this is out of their hands... I don't understand this. Anyway, hopefully I can get some answers as this has been happening since we bought it new in 2021/2022. How many years do we wait for Toyota to work on a solution?
