I had the same noise. Taping the gap on the hood "fixed" the whistle noise. I ended up going to home depot and putting a "backer rod" through the hood seal (found it in the window ailse), and the whistle noise was gone.

Purchased a 2022 highlander platinum with similar wind noises. Dealership did Che k it out and compared it with another Highlander platinum they had and said the decibel readings were the same. Prior to contacting them, I did contact Toyota National and they did open a case file. Toyota National said my case was expedited to case management and that someone would contact me soon but holidays could delay . Dealership did respond and assured me they would fix the issue/ issues. Wind noise appears coming from side mirrors , rear hatch door, maybe that front hood seal several have referrred to. I am awaiting their response and solutions. Will update.

2021 HL Platinum. Cabin air leak whistle issue as well at 50 MPH... I've tapped the front windshield. Its been in 2xs for this issue, not fixed. The adjusted the hood and also replaced the hood seal. It sounds like an air leak. period. I also have had a center dash noise which happens when going over bumps. Had in it 2xs, and it still makes noise. This is a quality control issue with US made cars and I'm very frustrated that I'm having these kind of issues with a brand new car. Open to suggestions..... I've also messaged corporate. Which does nothing.

They tried telling me it was the side view mirror at first, and thats not it. You can hear the general area where the leak whistle is coming from... and its not the side mirror. I'm getting tired of taking it back in TBH and corp at some point needs to step up and fix the quality issues.

I can't get the dealer to address it and when I try to call Toyota Customer Care, they also tell me there is nothing they can do. Does anyone have a contact or suggestions on how to get this issue addressed. I am clearly frustrated.

I had mine fixed yesterday, it seems the manufacture did not install every seal correct, we are the few ones got the problem, they reinstalled the seal under the hood and bracket, no more whistling noise. The dealer must contact the Toyota corporation’s engineer to get the right way to test it and find the problem, someone has side mirror problem someone has seal problem.

I contacted Toyota Customer Care and a rep got back to me. I explained that I'd identified the noise (hood seal), took it to the dealership last October and the tech couldn't hear it, so I went home and fixed it myself. He told me I need to take it back to the dealer and get someone to acknowledge the noise before they will fix it. What really bugs me is that I'll have to remove my solution and "hope" they hear it this time. My fix has been working since October 2021, by the way.

For anyone thinking there is a recall or an easy path with Toyota Customer care regarding this problem, that's not been my experience.

Here's an update for anyone interested:
A replacement hood seal "magically" arrived at my dealer and they installed it yesterday. The fitment is much worse than the original seal from the factory. And, of course, it still whistles. And to make matters worse, the tech put a ding in my driver side door!! Here are pictures of the unbelievable gaps in the hood seal, plus a link to my youtube video where you can hear the whistling noise:

Toyota issued a fix for this concern in TSB 0048-22. It applies to 2020-2022 Highlander and Highlander Hybrids but not to XSE Highlanders. The new grill part number is 53115-0E010.
Thanks for the information. The dealer contacted me last week and it was installed. It seems to have fixed the whistling problem.
