Introduction:
Some 2021 – 2022 model year RAV4 Prime vehicles equipped with a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) may exhibit a BSM outer mirror indicator that stays on without a vehicle in the detection area after being passed by a vehicle. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.
Warranty Information:
Install Blind Spot Monitor Covers (Both Sides)
Repair Procedure:
1. Confirm the condition exists. Does the BSM mirror indicator stay ON without a vehicle in the detection area AFTER being passed by a vehicle?
YES — Continue to step 2
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
2. Remove the rear bumper.
3. Install the left and right blind spot monitor covers.
A. Insert the lower cover guides behind the bottom of the sensor bracket and position the cover to align the cover clips with the bracket holes.
B. Push the cover toward the bracket and fit the cover clips into the bracket holes.
4. Reinstall the rear bumper cover.
5. Test-drive the vehicle and confirm normal BSM operation.
