Applicability:

2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid

Introduction:
Some 2021 model year Sienna Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a condition in which the rear-view mirror button mount becomes detached from the windshield glass. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure:

1. Confirm the rear-view mirror button mount is detached from the windshield glass.
A. Are glass remnants present on the rear-view mirror button?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to substep B.

B. Does the vehicle exhibit poor adhesion between the rear-view mirror button mount and the windshield glass?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.

2. Remove the inner rear-view mirror stay holder cover, no. 2 forward recognition cover, no. 1 forward recognition cover, and inner rear-view mirror assembly.

3. If not already detached, remove the rear-view mirror button from the rear-view mirror assembly.

4. With a razor blade and alcohol wipes, remove ALL the adhesive from the windshield mounting location and the rear-view mirror button

5. AFTER the rear-view mirror button is completely cleaned and removed from the inner rear view mirror, spray the activator on BOTH surfaces (button and windshield) and wait AT LEAST five minutes until the activator is fully dried BEFORE applying adhesive on the mirror button.

6. Go to page 6 of this Service Bulletin and print the Mirror Button Template BEFORE continuing to step 7.

7. Cut out the Mirror Button Template as shown in the TSB

8. Cut out the Mirror Button Template as shown.

9. Apply Loctite® AA 330 adhesive on the mirror button.

10. Align the rear-view mirror button using the Mirror Button Template.

11. Press and hold the mirror button onto the windshield for five minutes.

12. Wipe away ANY excess adhesive from the mirror button and windshield surface.

13. Allow the product to cure for one hour BEFORE reattaching the rear-view mirror assembly.

14. Reattach the inner rear-view mirror stay holder cover, no. 2 forward recognition cover, no. 1 forward recognition cover, and inner rear view mirror assembly

15. Confirm the condition no longer exists.
