Introduction:
Some 2022 model year Tundra, Tundra Hybrid, and Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro vehicles may exhibit a red or yellow Electronic Power Steering (EPS) light ON condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C05D604 and/or C15D704 present when starting the vehicle. The EPS logic in the EPS gear assembly ECU has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.
Warranty Information:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date. Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
Repair Procedure:
1. Confirm the condition exists. Does the vehicle exhibit a red or yellow EPS light ON with DTC C05D604 and/or C15D704 present when starting the vehicle?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual
2. Using Techstream, perform a Health Check to confirm if the EPS ECU calibration is up to date. Is the calibration ID listed the latest EPS ECU calibration?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to step 3.
3. Flash reprogram the EPS ECU.
4. AFTER the flash reprogramming is complete, clear ANY DTCs that may be present.
5. Test-drive the vehicle to ensure the condition no longer exists.
