RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please do not remove the transmission assembly for further diagnosis. Perform the cleaning/inspection procedure below for further direction: 1. Inspect the extension shaft area at the rear of the transmission for transmission fluid.

2. Spray Toyota Brake Parts cleaner, CRC “Brakleen”, or equivalent into the area between the extension housing and the propeller shaft.

3. Blow shop air into that area.

4. Wipe the area clean with a clean shop towel.

5. Drive the vehicle for 5-10 miles at varying speeds, including highway speed, if available. If vehicle cannot be driven, please follow the pattern below:
a. Set parking brake
b. Start the engine
c. Move gear selector through each gear, pausing at each gear for ~10 seconds
d. After engine has run for 10-15 minutes, turn off the vehicle

6. Recheck the area for any leaks.
a. If a leak is found, please create a TAS case and contact TAS for instruction prior to diagnosing or repairing of the vehicle. If it is a weekend or holiday, continue with diagnosis and repair. Please save all parts and/or details and contact TAS on the next available workday.
b. If residue is no longer present, then the procedure is complete.
