The following thread will explain how we set up the Toyota 2GR-FKS Timing Chain marks after re-installing the heads or performing engine work.

The first tip is that you can use www.techinfo.toyota.com to view the Factory Repair Manual Instructions. Also this engine set up is very similar to the 2GR-FE engine which can be seen here..

Also we need to know which Bank is #1 and which Bank is #2. Here is a reference...

There are 3 timing chains in total. The first 2 that time the intake and exhaust VVT-i gears for Bank 1 and Bank 2 then the main timing chain that connects the whole system. This main timing chain has 3 colored marks (2 Yellow and 1 Purple)

Here is a shot of the timing marks at TDC with the cover on...

Notice the crankshaft marks at TDC...

and with the cover removed....

Here is a shot of the Bank 2 timing marks....

And here is a shot of the Bank 1 Timing marks...

Well that about wraps this one up. This post was just designed to show you how we did this job lining up the three timing chains and their marks. Please consult a Toyota Dealer and/or the Toyota repair website www.techinfo.toyota.com for more information.
