Some Toyota Lexus vehicles may exhibit a Navigation (Audio unit) system rebooting condition. This condition may be due to an errant data broadcast by Toyota's traffic and weather data service provider. the following procedure may help in resetting the Navigation System.

1) Confirm the navigation System is rebooting when the ignition is turned on

2) Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicles 12 volt battery

3) Wait 30 seconds

4) Reconnect the negative terminal of the vehicles 12 volt battery

5) Confirm multimedia system operation after multimedia system reloads. Multimedia system can take up to 5 minutes to reload after a battery disconnect
* If navigation system begins functioning normally proceed to step 6
* If navigation continues to reboot, have your Dealer diagnose per repair manual

6) Perform system initialization on vehicle systems as needed

7) Confirm all systems are functioning properly

Same problem.

Disconnecting the negative battery terminal had no effect.

Toyota dealer wanted $150 to diagnose the problem and ~$2500 to replace the head unit.

Instead I went to crutchfield.com and got a replacement for ~$600.

You got a navigation system from them? I’m trying to follow what you purchased exactly because my 2012 Pruis is stuck in the “loading” state.
