Is this a warranty fix?
I'm the OP and I'm in the middle of a disagreement with my dealer over this. They won't fix it under warranty because the day we took it back again was the last day of warranty and they told me Toyota won't honor it because by the time they bill for it Toyota will deny it because of the date
I took it back 1 year after I bought it. They couldn't find it.we made arrangements to take it back July 22nd (was still in warranty) but I was in the hospital and my wife needed to be able to come to the hospital not lose the car for a day. So she canceled it.
We rescheduled to Aug. 24th. Last day of warranty and they now want me to pay for the labor even though it's a factory defect and I had arranged to have it to them but was in the hospital. They basically are telling me that's too bad. Toyota won't pay us and we're not willing to fix it without being paid. Screw you. It's being discussed at the dealership now as wether or not to let it go or make us pay.
Sorry so long.
I'll let you know how it goes.

This has been fixed to our satisfaction by the dealer.

Wow! Did a dealer find out the problem? Cause thats exactly the sound Im getting and no one can figure it out. 2022 Highlander with 20K miles. Only makes the noise sometimes. But its annoying AF.
That’s exactly what it is! My 22 highlander is doing the same thing only have 24,000 the mechanic knew exactly what it was when I called him and explained what the noise was.

I have taken my car in with a copy of this review and after spending $500 for the technician to check it out, he found that these bolts were not as tight as he believed they should be, he retightened by hand. Since that was accomplished, I have not heard the popping sound. Too bad Toyota is not willing to accept the poor production control for their products
I just took my 2022 Highlander Platinum (16,000 miles) to the dealer with a printout of this entire thread, and they did the fix (as described) in these posts. It 100% fixes the problem. I have not heard any popping noises (In our out of driveways), into our out of turns (over any bumps or uneven roads which would result in body flex). This is the fix for that issue, hands down. The paperwork was put through and warrantied. Cost was slightly over $600.

2021 Highlander AWD w/ 14K miles, dull knock/pop type noise coming from the rear/center of the vehicle while turning and going over a bump (body roll). The fix is to remove this body brace (located behind the 2nd row seat, remove 3rd row seats to access) and re-torque the 6 bolts and noise should be gone

Thank you, it has been really annoying and even with a car sthetoscope coupd find it. 5 out of 6 bolt where snug not tightened. Problem solved 2021 highlander awd.

I have this same issue. I'm not sure if it was clarified in this thread. The OP said remove the bracket and tighten bolts. Can anyone clarify if you have to remove the bracket? Or if you just tighten the bolts without removing the bracket? Thanks
